Pastor picture 2017Rev. Alexander Pope, Jr. is the youngest son of 14 children born to the late Deacon Alexander Pope, Sr., and Ms. Willie Mae William Pope. He is a native Aiken County, South Carolina, where he attended public school. He is a graduate of Martha Schofield High School. He received his Bachelor of Art Degree from Voorhees College, Denmark, South Carolina. He has an MBA from Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina, a Master of Divinity from Ashley Theological Seminary Ashley, Ohio and a Doctorate of Divinity from Cenfield Theologian Seminary of Atlanta, Georgia.
Rev. Dr. Pope is married to the former Ms. Linda K Mackie. They have one daughter, a wonderful son-in- law, and two beautiful grandchildren. He is the recipient of more than 100 awards and certificates for community service rendered to the CSRA and surrounding communities. He was the recipient of the Westinghouse Savannah River Company’s 1999 “Man of The Year” award for his efforts in revitalizing Bettis Academy and opening an alternative school for children in the upper Aiken and Edgefield Counties of South Carolina.
He is the former District Director for the Baptist Education and Mission Convention Sunday School Congress. He is a member of the Baptist Education and Mission Convention of South Carolina, where he currently serves on the Board of Election. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Mt. Canaan Association, Inc. of Trenton, South Carolina and the National Baptist Convention, USA Inc. He is currently the Foreign Mission Representative for the state of South Carolina matrix to the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.
Dr. Pope is the author of several books. His most recent book entitled “Understanding the Lord’s Prayer” is in print for publication.
He enjoys preaching God’s Word, meeting people, playing golf and bowling.
